John Stewart
Virtually every Saturday on football terraces around the country fans will break out in song with a tune that they all know. The words will vary according to the particular team, but they will virtually all be unaware of the man who write the original. The song is Daydream Believer - one of the catchiest pieces of pop ever written and the man responsible for a song that the Monkees took to the top of the charts is American singer-songwriter John Stewart. Stewart could be classified as a genuine "lonesome picker" - an American cowboy. But his music transcends the country genre and has a special place in my heart ever since I was introduced to it by the much maligned Noel Edmonds on his Radio One Sunday Morning show. So coming soon on this area of my site will be my tribute to John Stewart.
