Warmth

A changing scene from gray to white.
How easy it is for a town to be encompassed
By a layer of thick white snow.

A landlady in hospital,
A prostitute thrown out of the local pub,
A friend's twenty first birthday
And a small football player
	A changing scene.

A life wandering through three times seven
Leaving nothing but a headache
Or a playwright loosening his pen
	"How the mighty are fallen."

Buildings of red
	Aching head
Birthday party
	Hale and hearty

Men lying on the ground
	Waiting for the whore's breath
And the rantings of a woman
Four times thirteen.

A strange jumble of words
Telling the fortune
	Of the melting snow.
Warmth in the hospital ward
Warmth in the brothel
Warmth in a 21st's heart
and Warmth in my room at midnight.
