Son Is Grown
I see the world through the eyes of my child
But my child is now a young man
Beginning to make his own way in life.
I do not mourn the loss of those early years
It would be selfish for me to do so.
I do not mourn his loss of innocence.
He is finding that the world can be a place of wonder
Each new experience helping him to grow
And I am growing along with him.
Now he no longer calls me an idiot
No longer tells me I don't know what I'm talking about,
We are becoming closer and more like friends.
Soon he will leave us for another home,
His real life is just beginning
And I find that terribly exciting.
