Latest Updates: In 2011 I had an article about the Norwich School published in the magazine distributed amongst former pupils. The article paid tribute to five teachers who engendered in me a love of the arts, literature and music. You can read the article by clicking here. I am also writing a daily blog which can be accessed by clicking on the link above or by clicking here

Welcome to my section of the web site. Here you will find my book and record reviews and much of the writing I have out together over the past decades ranging from novels to travelogues.

Hopefully the sections below give you a flavour of what is available on my area. You can also use the links on the left hand side and above. Previously I had my own site but somehow it picked up a number of viruses and so I have re-launched it as part of my family site.

If you want to comment on anything I have written you can e-mail me by clicking here. Above all I hope you get some enjoyment from what I have written.

Many thanks for visiting our site.

Peter

Music - Possibly the most important section of my site is that dedicated to my love of music. I don't like being pigeon holed and when asked what my tastes are in music I usually say something silly like "Anything I like." That is my way of saying I don't categorise music but I do know what I like and that can be anything from classical (Puccini, Beethoven, Bruckner and Mahler in particular) to pop (the likes of Abba, Electric Light Orchestra etc) to Prog Rock (just too many to mention) and American singer-songwriters (Phil Ochs, Dan Fogelberg, Harry Chapin and John Stewart all have a special place in my heart). By accessing the music area of my site you will be able to read record and concert reviews, see my take on the music years from the past and also read my general writings on music. The best place to start is the music index which is available by clicking here.

NEW: A new interview with talented singer-songwriter John Howard where John discusses his forthcoming album, his fans and the use of technology in today's music - and also his thoughts on X Factor. To read this click here. I have also pieced together a feature about John taken from his own biography and my interviews. This can be read by clicking here.

A feature on author Alan Mann who has written biographies about Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley and in 2011 will have a biography of Norwich Beatle Tony Sheridan published. To read this click here.

I have also started a section which I rather boringly call "Interesting Songs" - these are pieces of music that I love but where the lyrics hold hidden meaning or need some research. I have started with a fascinating song by singer-songwriter John Stewart which is all about a small but rather strange Californian Town where road directions get ripped up. The song is simply called Bolinas. Click here to read this section

Books - Having spent many years as an arts writer for various newspapers and publications, I still find it virtually impossible to read a book without wanting to review it. For that reason I have looked back over the years and tried to list as many books read as I can remember. Then over the past three years I have included full reviews. There are also sections on individual authors. The best place to start is with the books index which is available by clicking here. The site also includes interviews with author Roger Ellory.

Travelogues - One of life's great pleasures is travelling. I love being at home in Norfolk, but I also enjoy seeing different parts of the world. My travelogue section looks at some of the countries we have visited with descriptions and photographs. Once again the best place to start is the Travelogue index page which is available by clicking here.

Biography - There are so many things that make a person what he or she is. These can include upbringing, environment, relationships and many others. My biography section looks back at what has admittedly been a rather ordinary life, but one that I like to think has been well spent. Find out about my upbringing, my family and my thoughts and beliefs by clicking here.

University Work - Many years ago whilst I was working as Head of Media for Norfolk Constabulary I was privileged to undertake a Masters Degree at the University of East Anglia. This was work-based and my dissertation looked at the affect that the Media has on victims of crime. I interviewed a number of people that had lost loved ones to murder or manslaughter and my work in many ways is their story. I am delighted to publish my dissertation and other work towards my degree. You can access this by clicking here.

My Diary - Back in 1973 I started writing a daily diary. Over the past 37 years I must have written well over four million words - not that it all makes sense. There's all the trivia of a pretty average life there and I have started to transcribe it. Go to the index page by clicking here.

General Writing - Over the years I have written one finished novel, loads of snippets of novels and a huge number of articles, many of which are lost for ever. As and when I come across them I am putting them on the site. You can read the finished novel and much of the other stuff by clicking here.

My Poetry - Most of my poetry was written many many years ago and most of it is absolutely awful. But here it all is. If you must read any of it go to the index page by clicking here.

Photographs - Click here to see some British icon photographs and also a few photographs I am pleased with (there aren't many)

Famous Speeches - I am beginning to collect the best speeches from history and you can read these by clicking here.
