Milton Keynes and Anglesey Abbey - March 2010 For a number of years we have visited former University friends of Anne's Sheila and Pete Taylor in Milton Keynes for a weekend and have also been joined by Chris and Andy Bull who now live in Wales. The following is a short travelogue of our 2010 visit. View the Picture Gallery of our Milton KeynesTrip by clicking here. Friday 12th March Set off for Milton Keynes at 3.45 p.m and the journey took two and a half hours as there was plenty of traffic around including an accident near Bedford. Had an evening meal and a good chat before going to bed Saturday 13th March We travelled late morning to a village on the Grand Union Canal, about a 20 minute drive from Milton Keynes into Northamptonshire. A very pleasant village and we had a walk along the towpath and through the woods and then visited the canal museum where we found some plates from Great Yarmouth and mentions of the Knottingley Canal - so connections for both of us. Had a drink in a local pub and then returned to Milton Keynes. Sunday 14th March Sunday morning service at Simpson Church and then a visit to Anglesey Abbey on the way home. No hold ups our way but traffic very heavy in the other direction. We were offered a lift on a little buggy from the car park to the house (perhaps they thought we looked a bit old or frail or perhaps the driver was just bored and needed somebody to chat to). Had a look round the house and a walk in the gardens and met Liz and Gordon Edwards who live in the next road to us. |
